Nutrition & Hydration

Nobody cares about nutrition until they bonk at kilometre 25 and have to walk the last five miles staring at a gel they can't stomach.

We test gels, electrolytes, hydration vests, and soft flasks on long runs and race days — not in a kitchen. Some of the cheapest options work brilliantly. Some of the expensive ones taste like medicine and sit in your stomach like concrete. We'll tell you which is which.

Hydration vest fit is its own science. What works for a 70kg male with a long torso is completely different from what works for a lighter female runner. We note this in our testing because it actually matters and most reviews ignore it.

Kat Moran handles most of our nutrition and hydration coverage. She's a physio, which means she understands the science and has strong opinions about what the research actually says versus what the marketing claims.
